REEEP has recently endorsed the GOGLA Consumer Protection Code, whose aim is to safeguard impact and respect consumer rights in the off-grid solar industry. It consists of six principles of business practice and an assessment framework to measure and monitor performance and establishes the de facto industry standard for consumer protection that adds value to off-grid solar companies, investors and other stakeholders.
Our endorsement signifies that we align our internal practices with the Consumer Protection Code and support off-grid solar providers to fulfil the minimum standards of practice in their treatment of customers. REEEP has fully embedded consumer protection within the Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa (BGFA) and is planning to incorporate it into other programmes.
