On 5-7 July 2021, the Vienna Energy Forum 2021 (VEF 2021) will be held virtually to facilitate a multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder and inter-disciplinary dialogue on sustainable energy for inclusive development and productive capacities. The VEF 2021, guided by the motto “Where Action Meets Ambition”, is designed to spur actions, partnerships and recommendations to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the related Sustainable Development Goals, and forge an inclusive pathway to attain zero emissions by 2050.
Magdalena Kouneva, REEEP’s Director General, will participate in the ‘Food Systems Panel I: Scaling Up Food Productivity’ at the High-Level Thematic Plenary on 6 July 2021 from 12:00 – 13:30 CEST.Although food systems have been transforming, driven by ever increasing efficiency and productivity, they still fail to provide sufficient and reliable food supplies, whilst concurrently contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation.
The “High-Level Plenary II: Food Systems Transformation” will explore action-oriented solutions to integrate renewable energy solutions into food systems and highlight the potential for multiple wins at all stages of the value chain. At the same time, this High Level Plenary will discuss how this transformation and decentralized renewable energy systems can enhance gender equality and empower women and youth.
