We are pleased to announce that Maher Chebbo, Chief Innovation Officer for Global Digital Energy Solutions at GE Power, has accepted the position of Chair of the REEEP Governing Board.

A long-time leader in the smart energy field, Maher was named one of the 40 Most Influential People in SmartGrids in Europe in 2014. In 2015, he featured in the annual publication Global Smart Energy Elites as one of the leaders at the helm of the global smart energy revolution.

“REEEP is entering a new era where innovation, digital transformation, entrepreneurship and collaboration are key success factors to achieve our strategy” said Maher Chebbo. “I am excited and proud to work with REEEP’s highly professional team, led by Martin Hiller, to change people’s lives across the globe by investing in affordable clean energy. Our impact can be vast!”

Maher has been a member of the REEEP Governing Board since 2008. Before moving to General Electric in 2017, he worked with SAP for 21 years, holding leadership positions in Corporate Venturing, Business Development, Sales, Global Field Operations and General Management. As Chair of the Governing Board, Maher succeeds Henry Derwent, who stepped down in April for health reasons.

“Maher brings the deep understanding of the energy transformation and the experience of a tremendous networker,” said Martin Hiller, REEEP Director General. “We all look forward to profiting from his dynamic professionalism to grow our impact and develop innovative, effective ways of bringing clean energy to frontier markets.”

Maher holds a PhD in Energy from the École des Mines de Paris (Mines ParisTech) and is Board member of ARMINES, its Research Management Organisation. He is President of the European Smart Energy Association (ESMIG) and Chair of the Digital Energy Group of ETIP SNET, the European Commission’s Technology & Innovation Platform for the Energy Transition, where he is Vice Chair of the Executive Committee.
