The R20 is a public-private partnership, bringing together subnational governments; businesses; financial institutions; academic institutions; non-profit organizations; intergovernmental organizations, and United Nations Programme to develop and implement measurable, large-scale, low-carbon and climate resilient economic development projects at the subnational level which can simultaneously solve the climate crisis and build a sustainable global economy. This solution is already underway; has been proven at scale; and therefore, can now be rapidly expanded on a global scale.

R20 Austria: Regions - The Key Actors for Energy Turnaround is aimed at representatives of regions, cities, businesses, investors and experts from the policy, renewable energy, climate change and green business communities. The focus is on the development of a low carbon economy through the implementation of concrete projects at the local level in fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, smart technologies, sustainable agriculture and other related economic sectors.
The conference will show practical and inspiring subnational bottom-up actions from around the globe, to build strong sustainable economies and make clean and local sources of energy available.
R20 Austria & EU will host the conference at the Hofburg together with Mr. Andrä Rupprechter, the Austrian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment & Water Management (BMLFUW), and the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund.
