Adopted by the World Energy Council (WEC) as the African regional event of the WEC and presented by the South African National Energy Association (SANEA), the Africa Energy Indaba is supported by the African Union and the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency.

Harnessing the benefits of clean energy in both food production and in reliable water supply
The competing and complimentary interests of Energy, Water and Food extend far beyond the well know debates about the suitability of bio energy in areas of Africa that are resource constrained [energy, water, arable land]. Energy systems require water for cooling, cleaning and heat transfer. Water systems in turn need energy for pumping and purification. Agriculture and food supply systems need both energy and water. All three need suitable land.
How do we find a balance that will serve African development and growth?
Nine newly-funded REEEP projects are looking at innovative ways of using clean energy to create symbiosis between the provision of energy, food and water.
The Energy – Water – Food Nexus is an exciting new area in energy efficiency!
This key topic is one of the discussions to be held at the Africa Energy Indaba 2014, amongst others.
