G-STIC is a series of conferences that aim to accelerate the development, dissemination and deployment of technological innovations that enable the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is organised annually by five non-profit research and technology institutions, including TERI from India and ACTS from Kenya.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) have reaffirmed their commitment to cooperating for the promotion of sustainable energy solutions and sound environmental practices in developing countries and emerging economies, as a way to further inclusive and sustainable development.

This was a great opportunity for REEEP to share its expertise and at the same time get a fresh view on the issues we work on from the next generation of leaders.

COP23 Side Event: Cleantech Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Transformative Climate Solutions

This event, organised by UNIDO, GEF, CTCN and PFAN and hosted by the State Secretary for Sustainable Development of Morocco, will discuss ways to unlock prosperity through clean technology innovation and entrepreneurship at the bottom of the pyramid.

Global Science, Technology and Innovation Conference 2017

The G-STIC 2017 conference focuses on connecting technological innovation to decision making for sustainability. It aims to build knowledge bases and global expert networks to support the technological transitions needed for the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Private Financing Advisory Network Relaunched under REEEP and UNIDO Hosting

On the 10th of May, 2017, the Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN) was officially relaunched under its new hosting arrangement with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) in cooperation with REEEP in Vienna, Austria. Under this arrangement, PFAN’s activities will be scaled up by a factor of two to five by the year 2020.

Vienna Energy Forum 2017

REEEP is a partner in the organisation of the Vienna Energy Forum (VEF) 2017, which will be themed Sustainable energy for the implementation of the SDGs and the Paris Agreement. It will highlight the multiplier effects of integrated approaches for sustainable development, and accentuate the potential of the sustainable energy nexus as well as innovation to drive accelerated sustainable growth.

Global Festival of Ideas for Sustainable Development

The Sustainable Development Goals represent a holistic agenda which can only succeed if policy areas often deemed to be in opposition can be reconciled. The Global Festival of Ideas will allow participants a unique opportunity to chart new thinking on how to overcome seemingly conflicting, and contradictory, objectives.

World Sustainable Development Summit 2016

The World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) 2016, themed, 'Beyond 2015: People, Planet & Progress', will be among the first international platforms to discuss the new agenda post the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals and the signing of the Paris Agreement. The attempt will be to initiate discussions on methodologies to be adopted to chalk a path to realise the Goals beyond 2015.

COP22 Side Event: NDC-driven SME Climate Finance Pathways for Developing Countries

REEEP, in cooperation with ICETT and PFAN, will be organising a side event at COP22 in Marrakech about finance pathways for SMEs in developing countries. SMEs make up an overwhelming share of many developing country economies, and are vital to creating inclusive and sustainable development. Yet SMEs are underrepresented in climate and development financing schemes. The session will discuss ways to mainstream SMEs into NDC-led climate finance schemes.
