Workshop caps off ECATS project

The dramatic hill town of Enna, Sicily was the setting for the concluding Workshop event for the ECATS (energy efficiency cap and trade) project. The REEEP-funded initiative, led by Professor Giovanni Tesoriere and his team at the Università Kore di Enna, developed a proposed institutional framework for a cap and trade system, particularly focussing on the energy situation in Tunisia.

New 'Compendium of Best U.S. Practices' in RE and EE aims to drive deployment worldwide

Three leading energy efficiency and renewable energy organizations – the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP, an international body), the Alliance to Save Energy (Alliance) and the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) – have jointly released their Compendium of Best Practices: Sharing Local and State Successes in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy from the United States, in which state and local governments share the key elements of their programs, lessons learned and what made each program a success.

Energy Globe award for Solomon Islands lighting project

REEEP's very first project in the Southeast Asia Pacific Region has won the National Energy Globe Award for 2009 for the Solomon Islands. The “Pacific Micro Energy Services Company” initiative has brought solar-powered LED lanterns to remote rural households in the Solomon Islands and Kiribati, replacing the default kerosene lighting, which is expensive and has harmful health effects.
