This year's Vienna Energy Forum consists of three major energy events in three days: first the VEF plenaries, on May 14, then the Austrian World Summit, on May 15, and finally the PFAN Global Investment Forum, on May 16.

Press Release: EU-funded Climate Change, Clean Energy and Urban Water in Africa Initiative Announced

A new EU-funded pilot initiative for market-based clean energy technologies and services deployment for South African municipal water works was launched last week at an EU Pavilion event at COP22. The event was organised by the UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), the South African Department for Environmental Affairs (DEA), the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) and the European Commission Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA).

IRENA and REEEP release new tool to aid in harmonizing and streamlining renewable energy knowledge

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) announced the release of Renewables Tagger, a new extension of the Climate Tagger automated knowledge-cataloguing system. The Renewables Tagger, which will be integrated into IRENA’s REsource knowledge management platform as well as made publicly available at no cost, will contribute to streamlining and improving the global renewable energy knowledge landscape.

PFAN Passes $1 Billion Mark in Clean Energy Financing

The Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN), a clean energy financing advisory group, has announced that it has passed the $ 1 billion mark in total financing raised for clean energy projects in developing countries. The multilateral public-private partnership, currently transitioning to a new governance and hosting arrangement within the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and REEEP, has now raised total financing of $1.2 billion.

Sweden opens first financing round of €20m off-grid electrification fund for Zambia

The Government of Sweden and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) announced today the opening of the first financing round of the Power Africa: Beyond the Grid Fund for Zambia. The €20m Fund aims to bring modern clean energy access to one million Zambians and jump-start the country’s burgeoning markets for energy services. The Fund will directly support private enterprises in the off-grid energy space through an innovative new results-based financing approach.

Lusaka, 04 March 2016. The Government of Sweden, Power Africa and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) announced this week the launch of the Power Africa: Beyond the Grid Fund for Zambia, an ambitious new market-based undertaking to bring clean energy access to one million Zambians and accelerate private sector growth in energy generation and distribution in the country.

VIENNA, 26 November, 2015. The governing board of the Private Finance Advisory Network (PFAN), a multilateral public-private partnership that connects clean energy businesses with private financing, announced today that it has entered negotiations with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) for the two organizations to jointly host the next generation of PFAN in Vienna.
